Emap buys online business information service for £23m

It might be "up for sale" but emap is still spending as it pays £23m for privately-owned online business information service Planet Retail. Emap said the business will sit well with its magazine and events brands including WGSN, World Retail Congress, Retail Week, Drapers and Spring Fair.

The Haymarket Media Group has announced a record pre-tax profit of £30m, with increases across all its divisions. Now in its 50th year of operation the group saw overall turnover rise from £229.3 to £244.4 with the company having invested £12m in new products and acquisitions.
Top US editor to speak at Business Media conference

Jonah Bloom, editor of Advertising Age (pictured) will present at PPA’s Business Media editorial conference on 26 September. Bloom’s session, “Magazine” editor in a digital age, will look at the nature of calling products such as a website, blog, video channel or event "brand extensions".
