Anglo-Dutch information provider Reed Elsevier is set to sell its educational business, Harcourt Education. The company made the announcement as it revealed that pre-tax profit for 2006 increased to £721m from £701m. Revenue at the company, which also owns the LexisNexis databases, was up to £5.4bn from £5.2bn.
Incisive media acquires VNU UK

Business information provider Incisive Media announced this week that it has acquired the entire share capital of the UK operation of VNU Business Publications Ltd. This was a back to back transaction from 3i following their acquisition of the Dutch and European publishing interests.

The Tabbies (Trade Association Business Publications International), an international business and professional (B+P) magazine competition encompassing 19 categories is now open to B+P publications. Entries are accepted from around the globe that are published at least every quarter.

Driven by new online media options and integrated marketing opportunities, global business and professional media (B+P) spending is expected to show a total increase of 6.3 per cent to $23.69 bn for 2006, according to new research. Spending is set to reach $30.17 bn by the end of 2010.
