VNU announced today it is changing its name to The Nielsen Company. The Nielsen Company is a global information and media company with brands in marketing information (ACNielsen), media information (Nielsen Media Research), business publications (Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Adweek) and trade shows.

UBM begins the new year with acquisitions in UK and China

In a busy start to 2007, United Business Media (UBM) has announced four acquisitions. The company’s CMP Technology division acquired Beijing based Customer Contact Center Standard (CCCS) on for $350,000. CMPMedica obtained MediReach Healthcare Communication (MHC), a medical and pharmaceutical marketing consultancy for $1.1m. UBM’s Commonwealth Business Media division purchased exhibition and conference organiser Aviation Industry Group Ltd (AIG) for £6m.
Business and professional marketing sector worth £10bn according to new report

The UK business and professional marketing sector is worth at least £10bn per annum and is 176,000 strong according to B2B Marketing Insight 2007, a new report published by B2B Marketing magazine.
