Nursing Times will tomorrow (1 September) unveil two brand new services to help organisations
recruiting nurses make their advertising work harder, using www.nursingtimes.net. The change has been bought about due to a large percentage of nurses not actively seeking to move, but would perhaps be tempted by the right job vacancy. Therefore, these new services differ from websites devoted exclusively to job seekers.
Real Business re-launches with David Cameron exclusive

Caspian Publishing’s entrepreneurial magazine Real Business has achieved a 60 per cent rise in advertising revenues ahead of its re-launch issue in September. The new-look magazine will adopt a miniature format, and will coincide with the launch of a new interactive website, www.realbusiness.co.uk.

Metal Bulletin announces 27 per cent profit increase

Business and professional media publisher Metal Bulletin Plc today (22 August) announced a 27 per cent rise in profit from January-June this year. Adjusted pre-tax profit rose to £6.1m on revenue up 18.9 per cent to £27.7m.
Centaur acquires ABTN

IDG acquires Fairfax’s UK publishing and database businesses

International Data Group (IDG) has announced that it has acquired the publishing interests of Fairfax Business Media in the UK. This includes the monthly magazine MIS, the annual MIS100 which profiles the UK’s biggest users of strategic IT and a new quarterly, The C Magazine. The business will be integrated into IDG’s UK publishing operations based in London and represents the continuing commitment of IDG to promote a range of media solutions throughout the globe.
Pearson acquires Mergermarket for £101m

Pearson has announced the £101m acquisition of the Mergermarket Group, the financial information company. Its flagship product, mergermarket, couples detailed databases of transactions and third party news sources with early-stage intelligence on potential corporate activity generated by 160 M&A journalists in 31 countries.
VNU appoints Marchesano as head of transformation programme

VNU has appointed Michael Marchesano to the newly created position of executive vice president and chief transformation officer. In his new role, Marchesano will lead VNU’s Project Forward, a three-year program designed to reduce costs, enhance margins and leverage VNU’s resources to improve the company’s competitive edge and fund future growth. He will report to Rob Ruijter, CFO and interim CEO of VNU.
