Emap Communications acquires exhibition organiser

Emap Communications, the business and professional media division of Emap plc announced today (21 December) that it has acquired Trades Exhibitions Limited (TEL), a UK based exhibition organiser in the professional beauty sector.

In response to the changing environment in the publishing world PPA has ‘upped the ante’ for the annual conference held in May. Next year’s conference on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 May 2007 will still be at the Grosvenor House but there will be a renewed focus on the Business and Professional sector. 

VNU sells off European media business

Business and professional media publisher VNU will reportedly axe up to 4000 jobs and is selling off its European media business. The UK magazines to be sold are: Accountancy Age, ComputerActive, CRN, Computing, Financial Director, Information World Review, IT Week and Personal Computer World.

UBM announces results for second half of 2006

United Business Media (UBM) have announced that its overall trading performance for the second half of 2006 is in line with expectations. PR Newswire and CMP Asia continue to perform strongly, while the newly-integrated healthcare business CMPMedica is operating in line with expectations. Commonwealth Business Media, the trade and transportation information business acquired in July, is delivering results in line with its acquisition case.

UBM acquires conference and information provider

United Business Media (UBM) announced this week this that its US-based subsidiary CMP Technology acquired the Software 2007 conference from Sand Hill Group LLC for an initial cash consideration of $5.5m, with a further $3.5m being payable over the next three years if certain performance conditions are met.
