AA forecasts return to growth

New forecasts predict that total consumer magazine advertising expenditure will increase by 6.9 per cent in 2004. The Forecast of Advertising Expenditure, published by the World Advertising Resource Centre (WARC), also predicts that expenditure on business and professional magazines will return to growth, increasing by 2.2 per cent this year.

Publishers seek to reuse public sector jobs data

The NHS Electronic Recruitment Project pilot, launched in December, has raised a major concern for publishers in terms of access to jobs data. Publishers have asked for access to the jobs data used on the NHS Careers site so it can be reused in existing or new business models.

The Q4 2004 Bellwether Report is the most positive for media advertising since Q3 2000. According to the report, published this week by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA), 40 per cent of respondents that have set media ad spend budgets for 2004 have set them higher than actual spend in 2003.

Parliamentary responses on NHS recruitment website raise further issues

Health minister John Hutton has stated that the method of funding the NHS Electronic Recruitment Service after April 2006 is still to be resolved. Funding until then will be provided by the Department of Health.
